CORPORATE BOX FOR STC MEMBERS AT THE 2018 HOBART INTERNATIONAL
The Hobart International HI18 is over for another year and despite perfect weather during the week (apart from some wind!), the last two sessions were affected by rain delays with the final taking 8 and a half hours for Elise Mertens to defeat Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. With the world SB20's sailing on the Derwent during the week, the backdrop to the tennis from the box was impressive.
From all reports, everyone enjoyed the tennis during the week and the Corporate Box was again a success. Many thanks to everyone who attended, all our Box tickets were issued with excellent support by sponsors so Sunshine Tennis Club certainly did their bit in supporting the event.
Our member, Lenice Beard was also mentioned in the Mercury on Saturday as one of the six people who have seen the event grow from humble beginnings into one of the world's premier WTA events and have volunteered every year since 1994. Congratulations Lenice on this fine achievement.
In addition to the tennis, Tennis Tasmania hosted a President's brunch on the Tuesday morning and a Community Information forum on the Thursday morning where it was great to network with representatives from other Tasmanian Clubs and hear some interesting speakers from Tennis Australia on topics like "on line court booking" and "Community Play".
CLUBHOUSE CLEANLINESS
REMINDER
Could all groups take a few minutes before leaving to check how clean the clubhouse is and if the floor needs a quick sweep, do so.
Also check the rubbish bin in the kitchen has been emptied and there is no food/chips scraps to attract ants.
If using the clubhouse just a reminder all goods are available on the honour system and donations placed in the red tin in the fridge.
Whilst on the Clubhouse, just a further reminder as we approach Christmas and for when the bbq is installed, the bringing of your own alcohol onto the licensed premises is illegal and the owners, being the Clarence City Council could receive heavy fines. Any alcohol in the fridge is purchased from the Community Centre and a donation requested when a person with an RSA (responsible serving of alcohol certificate) is on hand.
If you wish to obtain an RSA, courses are available on line at minimal cost - approx. $40
BALL MACHINE FOR HIRE
The Club has a ball machine for the benefit of all members. The machine is capable of firing balls at different speeds, angles and distances. It has a capacity of 70 balls (provided) before it needs to be refilled. It is great for practising all tennis shots from beginners to advanced.
Cost is $5.00 per session or you can ‘bag a bargain’ and get 12 sessions for $50.00.

NOTICE TO ALL Club Members
The clubhouse is the responsibility of all users. Please leave it clean and tidy. If we have to employ cleaners to do these duties then the extra cost will be substantial.
CONDITIONS OF CLUBHOUSE USE
- ALL RUBBISH MUST BE REMOVED & CLEAN BIN LINERS FOR NEXT GROUP
- ALL BENCHES AND TABLES MUST BE WIPED CLEAN
- ALL UTENSILS, PLATES, CUPS ETC MUST BE WASHED AND PUT AWAY
- ALL DOORS MUST BE SECURELY LOCKED & CHECKED FROM OUTSIDE PRIOR TO LEAVING CLUB

OPERATING HOURS Monday – Friday 7am – 11pm Saturday 8am – 11pm Sunday 9am – 11pm
Members are requested where possible to use courts furthest from Howrah Road first of an evening so as not to disturb the residents.

Where is the Tea & Coffee?
REMINDER
• We do not provide milk.
• All groups are to supply their own milk.
• However we do have small packets of long life milk which can be purchased @ $1.00 each.
• Cappuccino or Latte sachets are extra $1.00 each. Coffee pods – groups supply their own.
• It is also the responsibility of users to refill the tea, coffee and sugar containers from stock in the storeroom. Extra barbeque sauce is also kept in the storeroom.
• We have had several complaints recently that the containers in the kitchen are empty or there is no milk or barbeque sauce but each time there has been extra supplies in the storeroom.
